Fixed asset tag printers

Every organization is comprised of various fixed assets which helps in running the business either directly or indirectly. The fixed assets include tangible properties like IT equipment, furniture, automobiles, manufacturing equipment etc. It is essential for any organization to keep a track of such assets for various purposes like financial accounting and theft prevention and other aspects of asset management.

Tracking an asset involves keeping a record of various attributes of assets like quantity, location, serial number etc. One of the conventional ways has been manual tracking i.e. manually adding the details for each assets in a central database. However a popular method is asset tagging which enables asset tagging using Barcode/RFID technology.

Asset tagging involves printing a label (a sticker known as tag) on the fixed asset with the help of an asset tag printer. This tag contains a barcode / RFID which can be scanned using a barcode/RFID reader which is integrated with a backend system feeding all the information about the asset to the accounting system. Various printing products are available in the market. There are also various Asset Tag Printer providers which deliver custom Asset Tag Printer as per the requirement of the business.

There are broadly three types of asset tag printers:

Industrial, Desktop and Mobile. Each of them differing in ease of use, volume, durability and quality of asset tag printing.

Industrial Asset Tag Printer is used for high volume and high quality printing. This is ideal for tagging assets in big organizational setups like manufacturing plants or warehouses. Desktop printers are suitable for small scale tagging like retail outlets and back office label printing. These are similar to industrial printers but can handle lesser volume of printing. Though it can be used printing high quality labels. Mobile printers are a convenient way for printing tags on the move. These can be used for tagging highly mobile assets like cell phones or laptops.

Proper tagging is the first step in enabling an efficient asset management process and thus the quality of tagging becomes important. Based on the asset environment, an organization must adopt an efficient and durable tagging mechanism, giving themselves accurate, convenient and hassle free asset management solution.
